Mercedes-Benz Launches New GLB EV and Hybrid Models for 2027

UPDATE: The highly anticipated 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLB EV and hybrid models have just been announced, promising cutting-edge technology while retaining the beloved boxy design. This pivotal vehicle is set to reshape the entry-level segment for the brand and is expected to impact buyers looking for compact SUVs.

The new GLB, debuting in winter 2026, will feature two electric variants: the GLB250+ and GLB350 4Matic. The GLB250+ boasts a powerful 268 horsepower motor, achieving 0 to 60 mph in just 7.3 seconds, with a range between 337 and 392 miles based on European standards. For performance enthusiasts, the GLB350 4Matic delivers 349 hp and accelerates to 60 mph in a mere 5.4 seconds.

Why does this matter now? The GLB serves as a gateway to the luxury brand for many customers, making a strong first impression essential. Mercedes-Benz aims to capture a larger market share by blending family-friendly features with advanced technology and sustainable powertrains.

Both electric models will use an 85-kWh battery and can fast-charge at 320 kW, adding up to 162 WLTP-rated miles in just 10 minutes. The GLB will also come equipped with multiple levels of regenerative braking and advanced driver-assist systems to enhance safety and convenience.

For those not ready to transition to electric, a hybrid version powered by a new M252 turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-four will follow, featuring an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. While specific power numbers remain undisclosed, this model aims to cater to a broader audience.

Inside, the GLB showcases a modern interior design akin to the new CLA, featuring a 10.25-inch digital gauge and a 14-inch touchscreen as part of the Superscreen setup. This setup will improve user experience with an AI assistant and customizable ambient lighting, ensuring a luxurious feel.

The compact SUV has grown slightly, now measuring 186.3 inches in length, and offers enhanced interior space, including 19.1 cubic feet of cargo room in the five-seater configuration. The redesigned roofline and standard panoramic sunroof provide a spacious feel, crucial for family-oriented buyers.

What’s next? The pricing for the GLB250+ is projected to start around $55,700, while the more powerful GLB350 4Matic will be priced at approximately $58,600. This pricing aligns closely with the current market and positions the GLB as a strong competitor against other compact SUVs.
