URGENT UPDATE: A major egg recall has just expanded, affecting two brands potentially contaminated with salmonella. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has confirmed that the brands, Kenz Henz and Black Sheep Company, have been linked to a facility in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.

This alarming recall comes after FDA inspectors discovered 40 positive samples for seven different strains of salmonella at the Black Sheep Egg Company facility. Consumers are urged to act now, as eating contaminated eggs can lead to serious gastrointestinal issues, including diarrhea, stomach cramps, and potentially severe complications for vulnerable populations.

As of now, no illnesses have been reported, but the FDA stresses the importance of checking your refrigerator for the affected products. The implicated cartons include:

Kenz Henz: 12-count packages of “Grade AA Large Pasture Raised” eggs, marked with UPC code 86949400030. The affected Julian dates are 241 (Aug 30) to 244 (Sep 2) and 246 (Sep 4) to 247 (Sep 5), with best by dates ranging from 10/11 to 10/14 and 10/16 to 10/17.

Black Sheep Company: 12- and 18-count cartons of “Free Range Large Grade A Brown Eggs,” with best by dates from 8/22/2025 through 10/31/2025. UPC codes include 860010568507 and 860010568538.

The FDA indicates that contaminated eggs may have been distributed to retailers in Arkansas and Missouri, where they may have been repackaged under different brands. Consumers are advised to discard or return any recalled products to the store for a refund.

As the situation develops, the FDA will provide further updates on any additional brands that may be added to this urgent recall list. It is crucial for consumers to stay informed and take immediate action to protect their health and safety.
