Bulls Roar to 5-0 Start, Undefeated for First Time Since ’90s
UPDATE: The Chicago Bulls have surged to a 5-0 record, marking their first undefeated start since the iconic 1996-97 season during the Michael Jordan era. The Bulls claimed a thrilling 135-125 victory over the New York Knicks on Friday night, solidifying their position as the lone undefeated team in the Eastern Conference.
This historic feat is only the third time in franchise history the Bulls have begun a season this strongly. “We feel good as a group about where we’re at right now, but there’s a long way to go,” said Bulls guard Josh Giddey, who led the team with a career-high 32 points, alongside 10 rebounds and 9 assists. Giddey highlighted the team’s depth, noting that six players are averaging double figures in scoring.
The Bulls’ offensive strategy has proven effective, with a remarkable 31 assists on 45 field goals in Friday’s game. Giddey emphasized the team’s strong chemistry, stating, “We all love each other, we all love playing with each other,” which adds to their winning dynamic.
The Bulls are not just racking up wins; they’re facing formidable opponents. Four of their victories have come against projected playoff contenders in the East, including the Knicks, Orlando, Atlanta, and Detroit. The team is set to face the Knicks again this Sunday at Madison Square Garden before returning home on Tuesday to take on the Philadelphia 76ers, who suffered their first loss this season on Friday.
Bulls head coach Billy Donovan celebrated his 200th victory as the team’s coach and remarked on the powerful belief within the team. “When there’s belief, it’s really, really powerful,” Donovan stated. He acknowledged the strong relationships among players, which contribute significantly to their success.
As enthusiasm builds around the Bulls’ impressive start, the team is aware of the challenges ahead. “Listen, it’s very early. It’s five games, and I’m happy with the start that we’ve got, just like, yeah, it’s five games. We get a lot more ways to go,” Donovan added.
With the Bulls riding high on momentum, fans are eagerly anticipating their upcoming matches. This season promises to be an exciting journey for Chicago basketball, as the team aims to sustain this early success and make a mark in the league.
Stay tuned as the Bulls continue to chase excellence and aim for a deeper run this season!
