UPDATE: Detroit Lions’ All-Pro offensive tackle Penei Sewell has confirmed he is “all good” after suffering a knee injury during the team’s emphatic 44-22 victory over the Washington Commanders on September 24, 2023. Sewell’s quick recovery has relieved fans, who have endured injury woes in recent seasons.

Sewell hit the turf in the first quarter, prompting immediate concern as he needed assistance to leave the field. However, he returned just six plays later, showcasing his resilience and importance to the team. “It was one of those things that started painful and then died down,” Sewell explained postgame. “If I can go, I can do. The pain just went away.”

The 25-year-old, a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro, played a pivotal role in the Lions’ offensive resurgence. Notably, the offensive line did not allow a sack and the rushing attack exceeded 200 yards for the first time since Week 3 against the Baltimore Ravens. “When we started running the ball today, it really sets up the whole offense,” Sewell added.

This incident marks the second consecutive week Sewell has faced injury concerns, having previously dealt with a shoulder issue. Despite being rolled up on during the game, his rapid return was so swift that the Lions did not even announce his injury status.

Sewell’s toughness and ability to bounce back quickly are critical as the Lions aim to build momentum in the NFL season. Fans will be closely watching his recovery as the team prepares for upcoming matchups.

Stay tuned for further updates on Sewell’s condition and the Lions’ performance as they look to continue their winning streak.
