Urgent Investigation: New Jersey Moving Company Accused of Fraud
URGENT UPDATE: A new investigation reveals serious allegations against the New Jersey-based moving company, Noble Moving and Storage, with customers claiming they were pressured into paying exorbitant fees that far exceeded initial estimates. Multiple reports have surfaced from across the country, prompting authorities to take action amid growing consumer complaints.
This latest scandal comes on the heels of a 7 On Your Side report that aired over the summer, where police reached out to Nina Pineda for assistance in alerting potential victims. Since then, a flood of customers have come forward, alleging that they were misled and coerced into signing contracts that resulted in shocking price hikes on moving day.
In a shocking statement, an anonymous source claimed, “She’s kind of the ringleader. She manages everything,” referring to Farah Al-Ibrahim, who previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud in a 2019 case involving similar tactics. Despite attempts to reach out for clarification, Al-Ibrahim and her husband, Joe Hannouch, have avoided answering questions about these serious allegations.
Customers have reported eye-popping quote increases. One individual, Melissa, shared her experience: “When they showed up, it went to $21,000. I think it was straight-up extortion.” Others echoed her sentiments, with Nate Wheatley stating he was charged an additional $8,000 and Andrea Elliot revealing she was hit with a staggering $18,000 upcharge.
Fairfield Police are actively investigating Noble Moving and Storage, stating that the pattern of complaints indicates possible criminal behavior. Officer Stacy Chiarolanza emphasized, “The pattern is what makes it become criminal and that allows us to get involved on the police side.” The Department of Transportation has also confirmed that they are investigating the company for fraudulent practices, including the notorious “low-ball” estimate tactic designed to lure customers.
Amid these troubling reports, Al-Ibrahim maintains her innocence, claiming she is no longer involved in the moving business. However, documents obtained by 7 On Your Side indicate that she is listed as the president of Moving System Holdings Inc., an entity linked to Noble Moving and Storage.
Potential victims are advised to remain vigilant. If a moving company provides quotes solely over the phone or online without a home visit, or if they demand payment before or after loading, consumers should be cautious. Experts recommend obtaining multiple estimates and walking away from deals that seem too good to be true.
As this situation continues to develop, authorities urge anyone who has experienced similar issues with moving companies to come forward. 7 On Your Side is encouraging affected individuals to share their stories, creating a collective effort to combat these deceptive practices.
Stay tuned for further updates as this investigation unfolds and more details emerge.
