URGENT UPDATE: AT&T has reached a staggering $177 million settlement over two significant data breaches, and impacted consumers have until December 18, 2024, to file their claims. Millions of customers whose sensitive information was compromised are urged to act quickly!

This settlement stems from lawsuits filed after AT&T notified customers that their data—including Social Security numbers and call records—was exposed in breaches dating back to 2019. Plaintiffs accused AT&T of having “repeatedly failed” to safeguard consumer data. Although the telecommunications giant denies any wrongdoing, it has opted for a settlement to avoid lengthy litigation, stating, “We have agreed to this settlement to avoid the expense and uncertainty of protracted litigation,” according to a Thursday statement.

The breaches, disclosed in 2024, have affected millions of current and former AT&T customers. The first breach, reported in March, involved the exposure of data from 7.6 million current and 65.4 million former account holders, with sensitive information appearing on the dark web. The second breach involved call and text records from nearly all AT&T customers between May and October 2022, along with a small subset from January 2, 2023. AT&T revealed that this data was “illegally downloaded” from a third-party cloud platform.

Eligible consumers can claim up to $5,000 for the first breach and up to $2,500 for the second breach. Those classified as “overlap settlement class members” may qualify for payments from both funds. The final amounts will depend on documented losses and the total number of claims submitted, with a court hearing scheduled for January 15, 2026 to give final approval to the settlement.

Consumers are encouraged to file their claims either online or via mail before the December 18 deadline. For more information, visit the Kroll Settlement Administration website. Class members also have the option to opt-out or raise objections before November 17.

This settlement highlights the critical importance of data protection in the digital age. As data breaches become increasingly common, consumers need to stay vigilant and informed about their rights and options. Don’t miss your chance to claim compensation—act NOW!
