Michigan Orders Three Casinos to Halt Illegal Operations Immediately
URGENT UPDATE: The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has just ordered Cryptowins Casino, Slotland Casino, and Winaday Casino to immediately cease operations statewide. This decisive action follows the discovery that these online casinos are operating illegally, targeting Michigan residents without the necessary licenses.
Officials confirmed that cease and desist letters were dispatched to each casino today, instructing them to stop taking bets and block access for Michigan players. This crackdown on illegal gambling comes just weeks after similar warnings were issued to eight other unlicensed websites, indicating a growing effort to protect consumers in the state.
According to Henry Williams, Executive Director of the MGCB, “Michigan law is clear—if you want to offer internet gaming in this state, you must be licensed.” He emphasized the risks posed by unlicensed operators, stating, “When unlicensed operators target Michigan residents, they’re not just breaking the law—they’re putting players at risk.”
The MGCB is ramping up its enforcement measures to safeguard the integrity of Michigan’s legal gaming market, which has been operational since January 2021. Williams noted, “We have a strong regulatory system in place that ensures games are fair, operators are accountable, and players’ information and funds are secure.”
The need for this crackdown is underscored by a surge in fake casino advertisements luring players to illegal sites. The MGCB is warning residents to be vigilant and only engage with licensed operators. For a safe gaming experience, players can find approved casinos through the official MGCB website.
As part of this ongoing initiative, the MGCB previously sent out 100 cease and desist letters to operators back in June. This latest action reflects a broader commitment to curtail illegal gambling activities that threaten the safety and security of players in Michigan.
Residents are urged to remain aware and report any suspicious online gaming activities. The MGCB is dedicated to maintaining a fair and regulated gaming environment and will continue to monitor online operations closely.
For more updates on this developing story, stay tuned. The fight against illegal gambling in Michigan is far from over, and the MGCB is prepared to take further action as needed.
