Alejandra’s Restaurant Reopens in Visalia After 3-Year Closure
BREAKING NEWS: Alejandra’s Mexican Restaurant in Downtown Visalia has officially reopened its doors, welcoming back customers for the first time since a devastating fire in 2022. The community staple has been rebuilt after flames destroyed the restaurant, leaving behind ash and debris from the fire that spread from a dumpster.
After more than three years of waiting, Alejandra’s is ready to serve the community again. General Manager Saul Altamirano expressed excitement, stating, “It feels great. The staff has been anxious to return, and everyone is pumped, creating a positive environment.” The restaurant has already seen hundreds of customers walk through its doors since reopening.
The fire, caused by a man who admitted to starting it in a nearby dumpster, ripped through multiple businesses, including Décor to Adore and Jimmy John’s. However, the resilient team at Alejandra’s has rebuilt, expanding their space by 20%, now accommodating up to 200 diners. The bar area has tripled in size, seating 24 patrons, and the outdoor patio features five new tables, enhancing the dining experience.
Local resident Geraldine Cole, a loyal customer since 2008, remarked on the restaurant’s return, saying, “It’s exactly what we expected, just coming in to get our chips and salsa.” Geraldine and her colleagues, who work nearby, have eagerly awaited Alejandra’s reopening, feeling that “something’s been missing” from Visalia.
The grand reopening will take place this Saturday, February 3, 2024, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony expected between 4:00 PM and 5:00 PM. The community is invited to celebrate this significant moment. Alejandra’s will operate from 9 AM to 10 PM Monday through Thursday, 10 AM to 10 PM on Friday and Saturday, and 9 AM to 9 PM on Sundays.
Reflecting on the journey, Saul stated, “Maybe things happen for the better because now we have more space to feed the community.” This reopening not only marks a new chapter for Alejandra’s but also restores a beloved gathering spot for the people of Visalia.
