URGENT UPDATE: As Thanksgiving approaches, Fight2Feed is intensifying its mission to combat hunger in Chicago. The local nonprofit has just announced a critical call for volunteers to help prepare and distribute meals, aiming to feed thousands this holiday season.

Founded on March 20, 2014, Fight2Feed operates with a dedicated team of volunteers who save unused, uncooked, and prepared foods from being wasted at restaurants, grocery stores, and major conventions. This food rescue initiative has already delivered over 2 million meals and rescued more than 6 million pounds of food that would have otherwise gone to waste.

This holiday season, Fight2Feed is ramping up its efforts, seeking volunteers specifically on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM. The organization partners with nonprofits across Chicago and surrounding areas, including Will, DuPage, and Lake County, to provide essential food and resources to homeless, under-resourced, and immigrant communities.

“We need your help to ensure that no one goes hungry this Thanksgiving,” said a spokesperson for Fight2Feed. The urgency to act is clear, as many families face food insecurity during the holiday season. By joining this effort, volunteers can make a tangible difference in their local communities.

For those interested in volunteering or donating, more information is available at https://fight2feed.org/#volunteer-signup. Every contribution counts in the fight against hunger, especially as the holiday season approaches.

As the organization gears up for its busiest time of the year, residents are encouraged to step forward and lend a hand. Together, we can create real change and ensure that everyone has a meal to share this Thanksgiving.
