Major Recall: Over 2 Million Pounds of Beef Jerky Pulled from Stores
LSI, Inc., based in South Dakota, is recalling more than 2 million pounds of ready-to-eat Korean barbecue pork jerky due to potential contamination with metal pieces. The announcement was made on October 24, 2023, by the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), highlighting the seriousness of the situation.
The recall specifically affects approximately 2,277,540 pounds of the product branded as “Golden Island fire-grilled Pork Jerky Korean Barbecue recipe.” These items, sold in plastic pouches weighing 14.5 oz and 16 oz, were distributed to retail locations including Costco and Sam’s Club throughout the United States.

The withdrawal has been classified as a “High-Class I” recall by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), which is the highest classification level indicating a situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious health consequences or death.
