Ego Nwodim Shares Gift-Wrapping Tips and Holiday Essentials
During the holiday season, effective gift wrapping can elevate the presentation of presents, transforming them into stunning decor beneath the Christmas tree. Ego Nwodim, an actor and former cast member of SNL, recently shared her insights on making gift wrapping easier and more visually appealing. In collaboration with Scotch Brand, Nwodim participated in their ‘Resting Gift Face’ campaign, highlighting a tape designed to simplify the wrapping process.
Unveiling the Perfect Tape for Gift Wrapping
Nwodim candidly admitted her struggles with wrapping gifts during a conversation from New York City. She stated, “I’m notoriously pretty bad at wrapping gifts. So I’m obsessed with this tape [at Target] that makes it so easy and makes it look pretty.” Her praise for this particular tape stems from its ability to seamlessly blend with various wrapping papers, creating a polished look that even novice wrappers can achieve.
The tape, which is part of her holiday gifting essentials, is noted for its invisibility, allowing presents to appear professionally wrapped. According to Nwodim, “It’s gonna sound cliché, but get this tape; it legitimately disappears perfectly into most wrapping papers, and it’s just so neat.” This ensures that every gift, regardless of the wrapper’s skill level, looks impressive once placed under the tree.
Essential Holiday Décor and Scented Candles
Nwodim also shared her favorite holiday décor items, emphasizing the importance of candles in her home during the festive season. She has a particular fondness for Boy Smells candles, and although her top choice, the De Nimes scent, has been discontinued, she recommends the limited edition Starry Spice candle. It features delightful notes of sugar plums, red wine, and incense, capturing the essence of the holidays.
“I love a good candle with a strong throw,” Nwodim explained. “Because I love candles so much, I now know the lingo, so it’s essentially a strong scented candle.” She believes that candles play a crucial role in creating a cozy atmosphere, making them a staple in her holiday home decor.
Nwodim’s commitment to holiday spirit extends beyond candles and includes a variety of decorations. “This year I’m excited to go all out and do stockings and have the tree,” she said. Her approach to holiday planning reflects her background in sketch comedy—relaxed and playful. “There’s some loose planning involved, but I like not to make anything surrounding the holidays feel like work.” She shared that some days involve elaborate decorating, while others might simply see ornaments added to the tree.
With a focus on enjoyment and ease, Nwodim encourages others to embrace the lighter side of holiday preparations. Whether it’s playing music while decorating or lighting candles to set the mood, she underscores that the key is to be ready for the holiday without stress. “As long as I’m all set in time for the actual holiday, I’m like, I’m good,” she concluded.
Nwodim’s tips and preferences provide valuable insights for anyone looking to enhance their holiday gifting and decorating experience, proving that presentation can be both beautiful and effortless.
