The North Dakota Highway Patrol has identified an 88-year-old man who tragically lost his life in a vehicle crash on November 28, 2023. Gordon Lindquist, a resident of Bottineau, was driving a 2007 Toyota Camry eastbound on Highway 37 when the incident occurred around 16:55.

While approaching the intersection with Highway 83, Lindquist’s vehicle came to a stop before entering the intersection. At that moment, a 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz, driven by 32-year-old Liana Bachar of Tioga, was traveling south on Highway 83. The two vehicles collided when the Santa Cruz struck the Camry on the driver’s side.

Lindquist was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene. Emergency responders transported Bachar to CHI St. Alexius Health in Garrison for treatment of her injuries.

Investigation Underway

The North Dakota Highway Patrol is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Charges against Bachar are pending as authorities continue to gather evidence and assess the details of the collision.

This incident underscores the importance of safe driving practices and the wearing of seat belts, which can significantly reduce the risk of fatal injuries in vehicle accidents. As the investigation progresses, further updates are expected from the Highway Patrol.

Family and community members are mourning the loss of Lindquist, reflecting on his life and the impact he had on those around him. The Highway Patrol encourages all drivers to exercise caution on the roads, particularly at intersections where many accidents occur.
