The boys’ swimming and diving team from Mayo High School secured a decisive victory over Albert Lea High School, finishing the meet with a score of 81 to 54 on December 5, 2025. The competition featured a series of strong performances, showcasing the talents of Mayo’s athletes across multiple events.

Key Performances in Individual Events

In the 200 medley relay, Mayo’s team, consisting of William Leasure, Brijen Tollefson, William Boorjian, and Andrew Lin-Jankowski, clinched first place with a time of 1:44.55. Mayo also demonstrated their prowess in the individual events, with standout performances by swimmers like Leif Larson, who won the 200 freestyle in 2:04.02, and Brijen Tollefson, who took first place in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:17.76.

In the sprint events, William Leasure dominated the 50 freestyle, finishing with an impressive time of 22.30, while William Boorjian secured first in the 100 freestyle, clocking in at 51.17. These performances solidified Mayo’s lead in the overall competition.

Diving and Relay Highlights

The diving events saw Nhyal Berntson emerge victorious, scoring 106.90 points, followed closely by teammate Adam Brewer, who achieved a score of 101.75.

In the exhibition events, Mayo continued to showcase their depth. The 200 freestyle relay, consisting of William Leasure, Andrew Lin-Jankowski, William Boorjian, and Leif Larson, finished strong with a time of 1:35.42. Similarly, the 400 freestyle relay saw Mayo’s team of Brijen Tollefson, Jayan Tollefson, Evan Cunningham, and Leif Larson complete the race in 3:52.59.

As the season progresses, Mayo’s team is showing promise, with many athletes consistently achieving personal bests and contributing to the team’s overall success. This victory against Albert Lea is a testament to their hard work and dedication in the pool.
