The week of December 8-13, 2025, promises exciting action in the world of high school bowling, featuring several key matches and tournaments across various divisions. Bowling enthusiasts can look forward to intense competitions, showcasing some of the top talent in boys and girls bowling.

Notable Matches and Tournaments

One of the highlights includes a dual match between the top two ranked teams in New Jersey, Woodbridge and St. Joseph Central. This matchup marks the first of two regular season encounters in the Greater Middlesex Conference Red Division. Last season, Woodbridge handed St. Joseph its only dual match loss in three years during the finals of the GMC Team Tournament. Recently, at the Marisa Tufaro Classic, Woodbridge edged out St. Joseph for the boys division title, achieving a total score of 3,158 to 3,069. Notably, St. Joseph’s Kai Strothers achieved a remarkable high game of 300 during the tournament.

In South Jersey, two formidable girls teams, Gloucester Tech and Eastern, will clash in an early-season showdown. Both teams are currently 2-0. Eastern’s senior bowler, Eva Carr, leads with a 177 average, while Gloucester Tech’s Annabelle Carter boasts an impressive 207 average, including a high game of 254.

The New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) features another exciting matchup as Montville takes on Kinnelon. Montville has started strong with two wins, thanks in part to senior Jake Schneider, who recorded a high game of 243. Kinnelon, fresh off a victory against Chatham, will aim to challenge Montville’s momentum.

Key Players to Watch

This week also sees the defending Group 2 champions, Bayonne, face off against last year’s HCIAL champion in a crucial test. Bayonne previously defeated Snyder in two of their three matchups last season and recently finished fifth at the Marisa Tufaro Classic.

In another exciting duel, seniors Tatum Walsh of Seneca and Leanna Lescano of Cherry Hill East will lead their teams in a highly anticipated South Jersey girls bowling match. Walsh recorded a three-game total of 537 in her season opener, while Lescano has maintained a strong average of 198.

The premier squads in Essex County will also meet for the first time this season. Seton Hall Prep and West Orange are both undefeated so far, with junior Joey Maiella from Seton Hall averaging 212 per game, while West Orange’s junior Alexander Kranz leads with an average of 198.

Freshman Giana Gonzales has made an impressive start for Woodbridge, averaging 171 over three matches. Meanwhile, South Brunswick has begun its season with a perfect record, aided by junior Emily Cochran and senior Aliya Ahmad.

Another standout is senior Aneis Zerillo of Demarest, who has averaged an impressive 227 through her initial matches. Fort Lee has also shown promise with freshman Kevin Cho, who recorded a high game of 269 recently.

The week culminates with the 24th annual Westfield bowling extravaganza at Jersey Lanes in Linden, where the top teams are expected to compete. Last year, St. Joseph secured victory with a total of 3,233 pins, while Bergen Tech claimed the girls division title with a score of 2,538.

As the season progresses, these matches will not only highlight individual talent but also the growing competitiveness of high school bowling across the region. Fans and participants alike are encouraged to attend and support their teams during this thrilling week of competitions.
