Analyst Slams Trump’s ‘Repulsive’ Attack on Late Wife of GOP Rep
UPDATE: Tensions escalate as political analyst Sam Stein condemns former President Donald Trump for his recent derogatory comments regarding the late wife of Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY). On November 14, 2025, Trump took to Truth Social to mock Massie’s remarriage, sparking outrage and backlash from both political allies and the public.
In a post that many consider deeply inappropriate, Trump remarked, “Boy, that was quick,” referring to Massie’s wedding which occurred approximately 16 months after the passing of his first wife in June 2024. He further insulted Massie, asserting, “His wife will soon find out that she’s stuck with a LOSER!”
Stein, alongside co-host Jack Cocchiarella on the latest episode of “The Bulwark Takes” podcast, labeled Trump’s comments as “horrible” and “repulsive.” He emphasized the emotional toll on Massie, stating, “The man was married for 30 years. His wife tragically passed. He is remarried. You are allowed to remarry.”
The backlash from Trump’s remarks has been swift and widespread. Stein pointed out that even some staunch supporters of Trump found the comments distasteful, saying, “Actual MAGAs online found this repulsive.” He noted a wave of negative reactions over the weekend, highlighting the sensitivity surrounding the issue of loss and grief.
Stein continued, “I know Trump has said millions of horrible things about people all the time, but I think a lot of people found this viscerally grotesque and rightfully so. You don’t go after a dude who tragically lost his wife.”
As this story continues to unfold, it raises significant questions about political discourse and the boundaries of acceptable rhetoric. The incident serves as a reminder of the emotional impact that public figures can have on individuals dealing with personal loss.
Political analysts and commentators will be watching closely how this controversy evolves and the potential ramifications for Trump’s ongoing influence within the Republican Party. With public sentiment shifting rapidly, what lies ahead for both Trump and Massie remains to be seen.
