Calvin Johnson Says MVP Win Could Ensure Stafford’s Hall of Fame Spot
UPDATE: Calvin Johnson has weighed in on Matthew Stafford’s Hall of Fame prospects, stating that an MVP award would significantly bolster the quarterback’s chances of being inducted. Speaking exclusively to TMZ Sports, Johnson emphasized that Stafford’s performance this season is nothing short of impressive, especially as he leads the Los Angeles Rams toward a playoff berth.
In a crucial moment for the Rams, who are currently tied with the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers at nine wins each, Johnson highlighted Stafford’s impressive play. “He’s playing good football,” Johnson noted. “It seems like the game looks easy to him right now.” With just five games left in the season, Stafford remains a strong contender for the NFL MVP award, despite a recent setback against the Carolina Panthers where he threw his first interception since Week 3 in a 31-28 loss.
Johnson, who was Stafford’s top target during their time together in Detroit, believes that the quarterback’s legacy is already solidified. “Matthew has a Hall of Fame talent, 100%,” Johnson stated. He emphasized that Stafford’s Super Bowl victory adds invaluable weight to his Hall of Fame candidacy. “That’s one huge bar that he was able to hop over,” Johnson added, referencing Stafford’s success after leaving Detroit.
Johnson’s remarks come as the Rams aim to secure their position in the playoffs, making every game critical. With Stafford’s talent on display, fans and analysts alike are eager to see if he can clinch the MVP title. “If he wins MVP, it makes it undeniable,” Johnson asserted, underscoring the significance of the award in cementing Stafford’s legacy.
As the 2023 NFL season progresses, all eyes will be on Stafford and the Rams. With key matchups ahead, the urgency for Stafford to showcase his skills and potentially secure the MVP title is palpable. The football world awaits to see if Johnson’s predictions come to fruition, and whether Stafford’s remarkable journey will lead him to a place in Canton.
