UPDATE: The Colorado Buffaloes volleyball team has just secured a stunning victory against the Baylor Bears, triumphing in a top-25 showdown at the CU Events Center on October 27, 2023. The 23rd-ranked Buffaloes dominated after a rocky start, winning three consecutive sets to take the match 3-1, with set scores of 14-25, 25-19, 25-15, and 25-20.

This victory marks a significant achievement for Colorado, improving their record to 20-3 and 10-1 in the Big 12 Conference. It is the first time since 2022 that the Buffaloes have reached the 20-win milestone, a feat accomplished only three times in ten seasons under head coach Jesse Mahoney.

The win is even more critical as it places Colorado in a share of the conference lead, following Arizona State’s five-set loss to Iowa State earlier today. The Buffaloes have now stretched their winning streak to six matches, rebuilding momentum after their last defeat against ASU.

Coach Mahoney praised his team’s resilience:

“After a really slow start to that match, I think that was some of the better volleyball we played, certainly in the last several weeks. Everyone contributed, which is really important for us,”

he said. In the opening set, Colorado struggled but rebounded with exceptional serving and passing in the following sets, showcasing a revitalized performance that thrilled fans.

Key players for the Buffaloes included Burilovic, who led with 18 kills, and Finley, who contributed 32 assists. Colorado’s defense was bolstered by Splawska, who recorded 7 blocks, helping to stifle Baylor’s offense.

The Buffs will now hit the road for a crucial two-game trip through Kansas, starting with a matchup against the University of Kansas on Thursday at 5 p.m. MT, available on ESPN+. Fans are eagerly anticipating how this momentum will carry into their upcoming games.

With this victory, the Colorado Buffaloes have not only solidified their standing in the Big 12 but also demonstrated their potential as a formidable contender in the collegiate volleyball landscape. Stay tuned for more updates as the season unfolds!
