UPDATE: The Colorado Buffaloes volleyball team suffered a devastating defeat against the Cincinnati Bearcats on Friday night, falling 3-0 in their final road match of the regular season. This loss marks only the third time this season that the 21st-ranked Buffs have been swept, with set scores of 25-15, 25-16, and 25-16.

The Buffs, who now hold a 22-7 overall record and 12-5 in the Big 12, struggled significantly, posting a hitting percentage of just .105, while the Bearcats dominated with an impressive .404 mark.

“It’s a disappointing result,” stated CU head coach Jesse Mahoney. “Cincinnati did everything right and we couldn’t get going. We’ve been a really good defensive team this year – we haven’t let anyone hit for those kinds of numbers. We just couldn’t slow them down for whatever reason, and we lost some discipline once we got down.”

As the Buffs gear up for their regular season finale against No. 25 BYU next Saturday, November 29, at 6 p.m. on ESPN+, fans remain hopeful for a turnaround.

The loss against Cincinnati underscores a crucial moment for the Buffs as they aim to regroup and finish the season strong. The team will need to sharpen their game to face a challenging opponent in BYU.

In the match, Buffs’ standout individual performances included Jordan and Splawska, both scoring 8 kills, while Burilovic added 6 kills. On the other side, Nolan led the Bearcats with 19 kills, while Glendinning contributed 13 kills.

With the stakes high and the season winding down, the Buffs must rally quickly to reclaim their momentum in the upcoming match. Fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how the team responds to this tough defeat.

Stay tuned for further updates on the CU Buffs as they prepare for an urgent showdown next week!
