Fairview Football Dominates Arapahoe 78-28 in Playoff Showdown
UPDATE: Fairview football has just delivered a stunning performance, crushing the Arapahoe Warriors with a jaw-dropping score of 78-28 in the Class 5A second round playoff at Recht Field on November 14, 2025. This decisive victory propels the Knights into the next round, showcasing their explosive offense and solidifying their place as a formidable contender.
The game began with a tightly contested first quarter, finishing 21-15 in favor of Arapahoe. However, the Knights quickly turned the tide. Junior quarterback Ki Ellison and senior wide receiver Sabi Ruttgers erupted, combining for a staggering 11 touchdowns. Ellison threw for 311 yards and rushed for 115 yards, while Ruttgers amassed an impressive 244 yards on offense.
“I always knew I was good, but this honestly proved it to myself and honestly the state too,” Ruttgers stated after the game. “Everyone was told it’d be a real close game, and we came out here and mercy-ruled them. It’s insane.”
The Knights’ dominance continued throughout the game, with senior standout Toray Davis adding three touchdowns and both Asher Allen and Ryan Rutherford contributing additional scores. Despite early struggles, Fairview’s defense made key stops that turned the game decisively in their favor.
The Knights blocked a punt, leading to a 16-yard touchdown pass from Ellison to Davis, followed by an interception by Ellison, which widened their lead to 36-21 by halftime. Ellison expressed his excitement about his interception: “I knew my moment was coming… I just jumped the route. Got me one.”
Fairview’s head coach Tom McCartney acknowledged the challenge posed by Arapahoe, stating, “They come out of the Cherry Creek league, and anybody that competes in the Creek league is going to be battle-tested.” His confidence in the Knights was evident as they prepared to face the top-seeded Cherry Creek next week.
This remarkable performance by Fairview not only highlights their offensive power but also dispels any doubts about their playoff readiness. The Knights will carry this momentum into their next match, where they will aim to continue their victorious run.
Stay tuned for more updates as Fairview looks to make an even bigger splash in the playoffs. This is a team that is proving it can compete with the best, regardless of past challenges.
