FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino Resigns Amid Epstein Disputes
BREAKING: FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino has officially resigned, just hours after Donald Trump hinted at his return to radio. Bongino’s departure comes amid internal conflicts over the handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files and the ongoing manhunt for the Brown University gunman.
Bongino confirmed his resignation earlier today, stating he would exit his position in January 2024. In a heartfelt message, he expressed gratitude to President Trump, Attorney General Pam Bondi, and FBI Director Kash Patel for the opportunity to serve, adding, “I want to thank you, my fellow Americans, for the privilege to serve you.”
Trump remarked that Bongino is eager to return to his former role as a conservative commentator, saying, “Dan did a great job. I think he wants to go back to his show.” This sudden shift raises questions about the future of the FBI’s direction and its ongoing investigations.
Sources indicate Bongino was already “halfway out the door” due to tensions regarding the Epstein files. Reports suggest a heated exchange occurred earlier this month between Bondi and Bongino during a meeting with the FBI and DOJ. Bondi allegedly confronted Bongino and Patel over a NewsNation report that claimed the FBI sought more information on Epstein-related documents, which the DOJ ultimately blocked.
In a related development, Ghislaine Maxwell is attempting to overturn her sex trafficking conviction. She filed a habeas petition, claiming “substantial new evidence” undermines her trial’s integrity. Maxwell, currently serving a 20-year sentence, argues that exculpatory evidence was withheld, which could be pivotal in her case.
The urgency surrounding these issues intensifies as authorities prepare for the release of a new batch of Epstein files by the end of the day. Under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, the DOJ is mandated to disclose “searchable and downloadable” records related to Epstein and Maxwell, including FBI case files, financial documents, and internal communications.
As these revelations unfold, the implications for the FBI’s reputation and the ongoing fight for justice in Epstein’s case remain significant. The public awaits further updates that could reshape the narrative surrounding these high-profile figures.
Stay tuned for more developments in this breaking story as it continues to evolve.
