URGENT UPDATE: Gold’s Gym is abruptly exiting its long-standing presence in Southern California, selling 23 regional locations to EōS Fitness, effective October 29. The only exception is the iconic Venice Beach gym, where the brand originated almost 60 years ago.

EōS Fitness announced the transition via email to its members, assuring them that their regular gym access will remain uninterrupted during this changeover. The company emphasizes a “seamless” transition as it integrates the former Gold’s locations into its network of over 200 gyms across seven states.

In their communication, EōS Fitness stated, “Our priority is to make this transition as seamless as possible, ensuring your workouts stay uninterrupted while we continue to provide best-in-class gyms, innovative fitness and recovery options, pristine facilities, and the latest fitness gear.”

According to WeHo Times, Gold’s Gym SoCal characterized the decision to sell as a “carefully made decision” after years of building a strong community. The company believes EōS Fitness is well-suited to “honor that legacy” and maintain the same dedication to its members. Notably, EōS Fitness CEO Rich Drengberg has a rich history with Gold’s Gym SoCal, having spent over 15 years helping to grow the brand earlier in his career.

New signage has already emerged at numerous former Gold’s locations. In Hollywood, one banner boldly states, “Gold’s Gym SoCal has flexed its last rep. Welcome to EōS Fitness. Same sweat. New swagger,” according to WeHo Times.

However, the iconic Gold’s Gym Venice, often referred to as the “Mecca of Bodybuilding,” will remain under the ownership of Gold’s Gym, a spokesperson confirmed to KTLA. Founded in Venice Beach in 1965, Gold’s Gym has been a cornerstone of Southern California’s fitness culture, attracting bodybuilders, athletes, and celebrities alike. Its departure marks the end of an era for a brand that has significantly shaped Los Angeles’ gym scene for nearly six decades.

As the transition unfolds, fitness enthusiasts and loyal Gold’s Gym members are left to contemplate what this change means for their workout routines and the fitness community at large. With EōS Fitness stepping in, many are curious about how the new management will honor the legacy of Gold’s Gym while delivering on its promises of innovation and quality.

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story and what it means for gym-goers in Southern California.
