Gonzaga’s Mark Few Clinches 750th Win in Dominant Victory
UPDATE: In a stunning display of skill and dominance, No. 11 Gonzaga overwhelmed North Florida with a commanding score of 109-58 on December 3, 2023, marking Mark Few’s 750th career victory. This victory makes Few the second-fastest coach to reach this milestone, achieving it in just 904 games, trailing only the legendary Adolph Rupp.
The game took place in Spookane, Washington, where Gonzaga showcased their prowess on both ends of the court. Under Few’s leadership for 27 seasons, the Bulldogs have never missed an NCAA Tournament, solidifying their reputation as a perennial powerhouse in college basketball.
Braden Huff led the Bulldogs with an impressive 24 points, while Tyon Grant-Foster contributed 19 points. Despite missing star player Graham Ike due to an ankle injury, Gonzaga shot a remarkable 61% from the field, leaving North Florida struggling with only 33% shooting efficiency.
The Bulldogs jumped out to a strong start, leading 31-22 midway through the first half. A pivotal moment came when Mario Saint-Supery scored seven consecutive points, igniting a devastating 20-0 run that left North Florida scoreless for over six minutes. By halftime, Gonzaga had established a commanding 53-28 lead.
“It’s a special milestone, but it’s all about the players and their hard work,” Few stated after the game.
As the second half commenced, Gonzaga continued their offensive onslaught with a quick 10-0 run, pushing the lead to 63-28. The Bulldogs dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Ospreys 48-25, highlighting their control of the game.
For North Florida, Kamrin Oriol managed to add some points with a pair of late three-pointers, but it was clear that Gonzaga’s relentless defense and efficient scoring left little room for a comeback. The Ospreys fell to 2-7 for the season.
Looking ahead, Gonzaga will face another tough challenge on Saturday when they take on UCLA in Seattle, a matchup that promises to be highly competitive.
The significance of this game extends beyond the scoreboard. Mark Few’s achievement of 750 wins highlights his profound impact on college basketball, and Gonzaga’s performance signals their readiness to contend for another successful season.
