Provo Man Charged with 12 Felonies for Sending CSAM to Cop
UPDATE: A Provo man has been charged with 12 felonies after allegedly sending child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to an undercover officer posing as an adult male with a teenage nephew. Josue Daniel McBride, aged 32, was arrested on November 10, 2025, by the Lehi Police Department and is currently being held without bail in the Utah County Jail.
The case began when an undercover officer created a post on Reddit’s “utahgayhookup” forum, indicating sexual attraction to minors. Following this post, McBride contacted the officer, revealing his own interest in CSAM through emojis recognized by law enforcement. This alarming interaction escalated quickly, leading to explicit discussions about sexual acts involving minors, according to court documents.
In a disturbing turn, McBride allegedly requested photos of the officer’s “nephew” and offered to send videos of children engaging in sexual activities. Reports state that McBride sent the officer naked videos of minors, including a child aged between 10 and 12 years old being sexually assaulted.
The undercover operation, which began around November 5, 2025, highlights a significant effort by law enforcement to combat the distribution of CSAM. Authorities confirm that McBride’s actions included not only the distribution of explicit content but also attempts to arrange in-person meetings for sexual exploitation.
The legal ramifications are severe, with McBride facing two counts of enticing a minor, four counts of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor (first-degree felony), five additional counts of aggravated sexual exploitation (second-degree felony), and one count of distributing pornographic material (third-degree felony).
As local authorities continue their investigation, the community is urged to report any suspected CSAM to law enforcement. The ICAC Tip Line can be reached at (801) 281-1211.
This troubling case reflects ongoing concerns about child safety and the urgent need for vigilance against online predators. As the investigation unfolds, more details are expected to emerge, and the community remains on alert for similar threats.
