UPDATE: The 2025-26 wrestling season is officially underway as teams across the Front Range gear up for competition. Coaches and athletes are reporting for duty, revealing ambitious goals and expectations for the upcoming season.

Broomfield Eagles are looking to improve after a 16th place finish last season at the 5A state tournament. Coach Jimmy Zechmann confirmed that the Eagles qualified eight wrestlers last year, including standout senior Nick Penfold ranked No. 4 in the 157-pound class. Zechmann stated, “We hope to bounce back with a top 10 finish at Ball Arena this February.” The team is bolstered by other returning state qualifiers, including Asher Diamond (132, No. 6) and August Soto (144, No. 6).

Meanwhile, the Boulder Panthers are eager to build on their past performance. Coach William Leboeuf highlighted senior captains Isaac Wing (165, No. 13) and Alex Smith (190) as pivotal in their quest for success. “I’m excited about the work Ollie Reynolds (Soph., 132) has put in this offseason,” Leboeuf remarked, indicating a strong push for the state tournament.

The Erie Tigers also aim to make their mark, with coach Joe Ferrera emphasizing the importance of returning state qualifiers. After placing 10th as a team last year, the Tigers are looking to capitalize on the skills of senior Tyler Muir (157, No. 6) and others to secure a competitive edge.

In a significant development, the Holy Family Tigers are set to make a strong push in Class 3A. Coaches Ernie Derrera and Nestor Pino aim for a top-three finish at the state tournament, armed with a roster that includes senior Lorenzo Trujillo, ranked No. 2 at 120s, alongside a talented group of returning state placers.

On the girls’ side, the Broomfield Eagles are generating excitement with junior Shayla Martinez, who is ranked No. 1 in the 190-pound bracket after a stellar state championship performance last season. Coach Luci Schement noted an increase in interest in girls’ wrestling, which could propel the team forward.
