Urgent Search for Suspect in 18-Year-Old’s Fatal Shooting
UPDATE: Authorities are urgently seeking the individual responsible for the tragic shooting of 18-year-old Kimberly Olmos, who was found dead in a stairwell on Manhattan’s Upper West Side early Sunday morning. This shocking incident occurred at 12:45 a.m. on October 15, 2023, at a public housing complex on West 55th Street.
Friends and family are heartbroken over the loss of Olmos, who is remembered for her vibrant personality and aspirations to attend college. “She was amazing. You ever been around somebody and you just felt like your whole room was just filled?” said close friend Daya Nellis. “She knew how to make sure to make you laugh.”
Initially, police considered the incident a possible self-inflicted shooting. However, investigations have shifted, with authorities now believing that Olmos was with someone handling a gun when it discharged, leading to her tragic death. As the investigation unfolds, friends are left grappling with the senseless loss.
A small memorial has been established outside Olmos’ home in the Mount Hope section of the Bronx, where her friends express their shock and grief. “We lost another young soul to gun violence,” said Jordan Berrios, a friend of Olmos. “Turn yourself in. You did wrong, and you have to suffer the consequences.” Another friend, Jason Rodriguez, echoes this sentiment, urging the person responsible to come forward.
As Olmos’ loved ones prepare for her funeral this Sunday, an online fundraiser has been launched to assist her family with arrangements. “I know you might not see this, but I love you down bad,” Nellis added, expressing her hope for justice in Olmos’ name.
The investigation is ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward. The community is rallying together, emphasizing the need for accountability and justice in the wake of this devastating loss.
As the search for answers continues, the impact of gun violence resonates deeply within the community, prompting urgent calls for change and support for those affected.
