Guy Fieri Rushed to Hospital After Gruesome On-Set Injury
URGENT UPDATE: Celebrity chef Guy Fieri has been rushed to the hospital following a serious injury sustained on the set of his show, Flavortown Food Fight. The incident, which occurred while filming, has left the popular Food Network star wheelchair-bound and facing an extensive recovery process.
Fieri, 57, shared with Fox News Digital that he “slipped down a set of steps” during filming, resulting in a gruesome injury that tore his quad muscle “in half.” The chef explained that while falling, “one foot went forward and the other foot got caught on the threshold.” Upon arriving at the hospital, doctors informed him they had never seen such a severe injury in their two decades of practice, noting that it was located in the “biggest, thickest” part of the leg.
The injury required immediate surgery to prevent further complications. Fieri described the traumatic moment, stating, “You normally tear that muscle at your tendon or the tendon tears off the bone, but this was right in the center of the whole quad muscle and it exploded.” With over 125 people on set at the time, Fieri and his team quickly adapted their filming techniques to accommodate the situation.
Since the accident, Fieri has been relying on crutches and a wheelchair to get around, revealing, “I have to stay off it. I can’t walk on it for eight weeks.” Following this period, he will receive a cast and begin rehabilitation as soon as possible. Reflecting on the injury, he candidly admitted, “It sucked” and described it as a “damper” on the production.
As Thanksgiving approaches, Fieri’s eldest son, Hunter, has stepped up to take charge of the family holiday feast. In a humorous text, Hunter told his father it’s his “time to shine.” Fieri, who shares two sons with his wife, Lori Fieri, noted that they will be cooking for about 40 people and he plans to assist from his wheelchair, calling it “an adventure.”
Fieri’s family dynamic adds a poignant touch to this challenging time. He stated, “It’s gonna be me quarterbacking from the wheelchair and telling them what to do.” This year’s Thanksgiving will not only be a test of his sons’ cooking skills but also a demonstration of family resilience in the face of adversity.
As Fieri continues his recovery, fans and fellow chefs are rallying around him, sending well wishes for a swift return to health. Follow his journey as updates unfold on his recovery and upcoming projects.
