Jimmy Kimmel Honored with President’s Award at ICG Publicists Awards

Jimmy Kimmel will be honored with the President’s Award at the 63rd Annual Publicists Awards hosted by the International Cinematographers Guild (ICG), IATSE Local 600. The ceremony is set to take place on March 13, 2024, at the prestigious Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. This award is rarely presented and is reserved for exceptional circumstances, making the recognition particularly significant.

The ICG’s publicists announced their decision to honor Kimmel, citing his “strength of character, resilience, and unwavering adherence to principle in the face of adversity.” John Lindley, national president of the ICG, expressed enthusiasm about the award, stating, “We’re thrilled to present this award to Jimmy Kimmel, whose return to the air meant so much to his audience and whose presence at the International Cinematographers Guild Publicists Awards means so much to us.”

Kimmel, known as the host and executive producer of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” faced challenges earlier this year when he was benched by ABC following comments made during a monologue. Brendan Carr, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, threatened to impose penalties against the network, leading to Kimmel’s temporary suspension. Lindley noted Kimmel’s commitment to his team during this difficult period, emphasizing, “He stood by his staff and crew during his suspension, and we celebrate his commitment to his work and to his team.”

The President’s Award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the industry. Previous recipients include notable figures such as Nanci Ryder, a legendary publicist and ALS activist; Cheryl Boone Isaacs, a former PR executive who served as the 35th president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS); and Linda Bell Blue, an executive producer recognized for her decades of excellence on “Entertainment Tonight.”
