Xiaomi 17 Pro Max Faces Tough Competition from Oppo’s Find X9 Pro
UPDATE: The battle for smartphone battery supremacy has intensified as new tests reveal that Xiaomi’s 17 Pro Max, launched on 25 September 2025, may soon be challenged by Oppo’s upcoming Find X9 Pro. Just weeks post-launch, independent evaluations indicate that the Xiaomi flagship’s massive 7,500 mAh battery could be outperformed in real-world usage.
Recent benchmarks from Novice Evaluation and WhyLab suggest that the unreleased Oppo Find X9 Pro has achieved longer screen-on times than the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max, despite both devices sporting the same battery capacity. In a significant test by TechDroider, the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max managed 13 hours and 36 minutes of usage, narrowly beating Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max at 13 hours and 31 minutes. This test simulated intense activities like gaming, streaming, and 4K video recording.
However, the excitement surrounding Xiaomi’s power cell is dampening as Oppo’s early tests show its Find X9 Pro outperforming the Xiaomi model in heavy-use scenarios. In tests by Novice Evaluation, the Find X9 Pro reportedly lasted 7 hours and 18 minutes, significantly surpassing the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max’s 6 hours and 49 minutes. Even the base model, the Oppo Find X9, with a smaller battery, managed 6 hours and 51 minutes of operation, edging past Xiaomi’s flagship.
The iQOO Z10 Turbo+ also joined the competition, boasting an impressive 8,000 mAh battery, which allowed it to dominate with 7 hours and 31 minutes of use. Meanwhile, a separate analysis from WhyLab highlights the Find X9 Pro’s remarkable 9 hours and 30 minutes of continuous operation, leaving the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max trailing at 8 hours and 24 minutes.
These findings raise questions about Xiaomi’s battery efficiency during demanding tasks, pointing to a potential need for software optimization before the device’s global rollout. As of now, Xiaomi has yet to announce an international release date or pricing for the 17 Pro Max, but sources indicate it may become available between February and March 2026.
Oppo’s Find X9 series has not been officially unveiled, yet early performance insights are already generating buzz. If the Find X9 Pro maintains its efficiency in global reviews, it could redefine endurance in the smartphone market for 2026.
As the competition heats up, tech enthusiasts are eager to see if Xiaomi can enhance its software to match the impressive endurance displayed by Oppo’s upcoming flagship. For now, despite having one of the largest smartphone batteries available, Xiaomi’s 17 Pro Max finds itself in a tightening race for battery supremacy.
