New Salad Bar Opens in Saginaw, Serving Fresh Favorites Daily
URGENT UPDATE: A new culinary hotspot has just opened in downtown Saginaw, offering fresh, made-to-order salads and more! The Salad Bar by Soul Food Sistas, launched by owner Latasha Lawson, opened its doors in May 2024 at 203 S. Washington Ave., and it’s already causing a buzz among locals.
Packed with vibrant vegetables and homemade proteins, The Salad Bar is redefining healthy dining in the area. Lawson, who previously ran a successful catering business, has infused her passion into every dish, stating, “I’ve poured my blood, sweat, and tears into this.” The establishment features fresh greens, proteins, and specialty items like smoothies and soups, with a commitment to using high-quality ingredients.
Customers can choose from a menu of salads or build their own, selecting from a variety of options. One standout is the Kenya Special, a tribute to Lawson’s late friend, featuring spinach, chicken, shrimp, and more. “It’s important for me to connect with my customers and offer them exactly what they want,” Lawson emphasized.
The Salad Bar isn’t just about salads. With a rotating selection of soups, including the popular homemade chicken and dumpling, and vegan options like chickpeas and black beans, there’s something for everyone.
“I love all of my customers; I love all the community support,”
Lawson added.
Open Tuesdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesday to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Lawson encourages patrons to visit and explore the offerings. The small space houses a myriad of fresh ingredients, and she invites customers to ask about items not on display, ensuring they get exactly what they crave.
The Salad Bar’s location within the SVRC Marketplace provides an exciting atmosphere for budding businesses. Lawson hopes to raise awareness about the marketplace, stating, “It’s a great starting point for any small business.”
For those looking to make healthier choices without sacrificing flavor, The Salad Bar offers an ideal solution in Saginaw. With her mother assisting in the kitchen, Lawson blends tradition and innovation, creating a place where community and delicious food come together.
