Knicks Rule Out Hart, Robinson for Season Opener Against Cavs
UPDATE: The New York Knicks have officially ruled out Josh Hart and Mitchell Robinson for their highly anticipated season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers on October 25, 2023. This news comes just hours before tip-off, heightening concerns for Knicks fans eager for a strong start to the NBA season.
Hart is sidelined due to lumbar spasms, having not played since the preseason opener against the Philadelphia 76ers in Abu Dhabi nearly three weeks ago. Robinson’s absence is attributed to left ankle injury management, with the center last participating in the first half of a preseason game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 9.
In a press conference, Knicks coach Mike Brown confirmed the situation, stating, “Neither one practiced today. We’re going to keep monitoring them.” Brown emphasized that Robinson is not injured but is undergoing workload management as the team aims to prevent further issues, especially after last season’s injury struggles. “If we deemed it necessary, could he possibly go? Yeah, he could possibly go,” Brown added.
The absence of Hart and Robinson is a significant blow for the Knicks, who are poised to compete for the Eastern Conference title this season. Meanwhile, the Cavaliers will also be missing key players, including Darius Garland (toe) and Max Strus (foot), adding to the urgency of this matchup.
Fans are anxiously awaiting updates as both teams prepare for the game. With the stakes high, the Knicks need to rely on their depth against a formidable Cavaliers squad.
As the clock ticks down to game time, all eyes will be on whether Hart and Robinson can recover quickly and contribute in the early stages of the season. The impact of their absence could shape the Knicks’ trajectory in the coming weeks.
