J.Crew Group Appoints Gena Smith as New Chief Human Resources Officer
J.Crew Group has appointed Gena Smith as its new Chief Human Resources Officer, effective immediately. Smith will manage all facets of the human resources function, which includes talent acquisition, employee engagement, inclusion and belonging, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness. Based in New York, she will report directly to Libby Wadle, the Chief Executive Officer of J.Crew Group.
Bringing over two decades of experience in human capital strategy and organizational development, Smith previously held the position of Chief Human Resources Officer at LVMH North America. Her extensive background also includes senior leadership roles focused on executive recruitment and human resources, such as Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Head of Global Executive and Creative Recruitment at LVMH.

In addition to her executive experience, Smith is actively involved in the fashion and design community. She currently serves on the Board of Governors for the Fashion Scholarship Fund and the Parsons School of Design, as well as being a member of the Board of Directors for Gabriela Hearst.

Before her role at LVMH, Smith was the Global Managing Director at Karen Harvey Consulting Group, where she advised fashion and luxury brands on executive placement and organizational design. Her career also includes leadership roles at Russell Reynolds Associates and Ray Berndtson, focusing on talent strategy in the consumer and retail sectors. Smith earned her degree in International Business from the University of Indianapolis.
