Michael B. Jordan to be Celebrated with Career Retrospective
The American Cinematheque will honor actor Michael B. Jordan with a career retrospective as part of its annual awards gala on November 20, 2025. This event will celebrate Jordan’s notable contributions to film, culminating in a special 70mm presentation of his latest work, Sinners, featuring both Jordan and director Ryan Coogler in attendance.
The retrospective will feature a series of screenings leading up to the gala. Starting on November 5, fans can enjoy Jordan’s breakout performance in the 2013 film Fruitvale Station. This will be followed by screenings of Creed on November 7, Just Mercy on November 14, and Black Panther on November 15. The main event showcasing Sinners will take place on November 22, immediately following the awards ceremony.
Jordan, known for his roles as twin brothers Stack and Smoke in Sinners, has enjoyed a multifaceted career as an actor, director, producer, and entrepreneur. His directorial debut came with Creed III, and he is set to direct and star in an upcoming remake of The Thomas Crown Affair. Additionally, he has been recognized as a TIME 100 honoree and received the Academy Museum Vanguard Award.
Celebrating its legacy, the American Cinematheque has previously honored notable figures such as Spike Lee, Ryan Reynolds, Reese Witherspoon, and Jessica Chastain. The upcoming awards ceremony will take place at The Beverly Hilton and serves as a fundraiser for the non-profit organization supporting year-round programming at various venues, including the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica and the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood.
