URGENT UPDATE: DoorDash has just announced a major initiative to support SNAP recipients during the ongoing federal government shutdown, impacting food aid for millions of Americans. Starting November 1, 2025, the company will waive delivery and service fees for grocery orders placed by verified SNAP users, aiming to deliver the equivalent of 1 million free meals through food banks nationwide.

As the shutdown threatens SNAP benefits for over 40 million Americans, food banks are preparing for an unprecedented surge in demand. In response, DoorDash’s Project DASH will collaborate with more than 300 food banks, food pantries, and charities to facilitate donations and ensure those in need receive essential meals.

DoorDash’s spokesperson confirmed that while recipients cannot place orders directly through the app, food bank partners will coordinate deliveries with DoorDash drivers, ensuring efficient service to those relying on food assistance. This initiative is crucial as food banks brace for overwhelming needs during this critical time.

Participating grocery partners, including Sprouts, Dollar General, Schnucks, Hy-Vee, Giant Eagle, and Wegmans, will also cover delivery fees for SNAP recipients shopping through DoorDash. To qualify, customers must have a linked SNAP/EBT card on their DoorDash profile. This fee waiver applies throughout the month of November, ending on November 30, 2025.

In a statement, DoorDash emphasized the importance of community support during this challenging time, as many families face potential food insecurity. The company aims to bridge the gap for those affected by the shutdown, ensuring access to nutritious food.
