A tragic incident unfolded in Siberia, Russia, when a teenager was killed by a bear during a summer outing with her stepfather. Nineteen-year-old Olga Moskalyova was enjoying a day along the river with her stepfather, Igor Tsyganenkov, when they encountered a deadly predator. The horrifying attack occurred while Olga was on the phone with her mother, Tatiana Moskalyova, who heard the terrifying events as they unfolded.

Initially, Olga called her mother in panic, describing their encounter with the bears. Moments later, the phone was snatched away from her, marking the last communication Tatiana would have with her daughter. According to reports, the situation escalated quickly as Olga witnessed the bear attacking her stepfather. In a desperate attempt to warn her mother, she managed to call back multiple times.

During one of the calls, the teen screamed, “Mum, the bear is eating me! Mum, it’s such agony. Mum, help!” At first, Tatiana thought it might be a prank but quickly realized the severity of the situation when she heard the unmistakable sounds of growling and chewing. She recalled the moment, stating, “But then I heard the real horror and pain in Olga’s voice and the sounds of a bear growling and chewing.” The emotional toll was immense, with Tatiana later admitting she could have “died then and there from shock.”

Olga’s final call came about an hour later, during which she expressed, “Mum, it’s not hurting anymore. I don’t feel the pain. Forgive me for everything; I love you so much.” Devastated by the loss of her child, Tatiana called the police, who arrived at the scene approximately an hour and a half later.

Law enforcement dispatched six hunters to locate and kill the bears. When they found the animals, they were reportedly still feeding on Olga’s lifeless body. Prior to this tragic incident, Olga was described as a “fun, warm and friendly” individual with a bright future ahead of her. Just days before the bear attack, she had graduated from music school and obtained her driving license.

Bear attacks appear to be increasingly common in Russia, particularly in wildlife areas where bears are searching for food and may view humans as intruders in their territory. This incident has raised concerns about the safety of outdoor activities in regions where wildlife encounters are a reality.

Both Olga and her stepfather were laid to rest on the same day in 2011, leaving behind a heartbroken family and friends who mourn the loss of two lives taken too soon.
