FHSAA Football Playoff Bracket Announced Thursday at Noon!
URGENT UPDATE: The Florida High School Athletics Association (FHSAA) will unveil the highly anticipated 2025 state high school football playoff bracket on Thursday, November 2, at noon, via its official YouTube channel. As excitement builds, early projections suggest that four teams from the Orlando area could secure region No. 1 seeds: DeLand, Edgewater, Jones, and Bishop Moore.
The Sentinel has jumped ahead with predictions for the first-round matchups set to take place on November 14. Notably, a recent victory by The First Academy could propel Edgewater into the no. 1 overall position in Class 5A. This shift would grant the Orlando area a remarkable four top seeds, with DeLand in 7A, Jones in 4A, and Bishop Moore in 3A.
In last week’s FHSAA power rankings, Lakeland held the top spot in 5A with a score of 21.651 points. However, following Edgewater’s victory over Boone and Lakeland’s recent loss, projections indicate that Edgewater, boasting an impressive 10-0 record, might surpass both Lakeland and Delray Beach Atlantic, who also faced defeat.
The projected first-round matchups could feature several rematches from the regular season, intensifying the stakes. In Region 1 of 7A, fans can expect thrilling showdowns like Hagerty at Lake Mary and Seminole at Spruce Creek. Earlier this season, Lake Mary decisively defeated Hagerty 55-17, while Boone narrowly edged Winter Park 44-38.
Adding to the drama, a crucial decision awaits regarding The First Academy’s playoff eligibility. A judge’s ruling on whether the school will have its playoff ban lifted is imminent. The Sentinel has reached out to Heitner Legal, representing TFA players’ parents, for updates but has yet to receive a response.
Should TFA be permitted to enter the playoffs, projections suggest they could rise to the No. 3 seed after their stunning upset of Lakeland, potentially facing Lakeland Christian in the first round.
The following are the anticipated matchups for the first round of the playoffs:
Class 7A, Region 1
– 8 Creekside (4-6) at 1 DeLand (10-0)
– 7 Hagerty (6-4) at 2 Lake Mary (7-3)
– 6 Seminole (5-5) at 3 Spruce Creek (8-2)
– 5 Winter Park (5-5) at 4 Boone (9-1)
Class 5A, Region 2
– 8 Wesley Chapel (6-4) at 1 Edgewater (10-0)
– 7 Lake Gibson (5-5) at 2 Lakeland (8-2)
– 6 Winter Springs (7-3) at 3 Gaither (9-1)
– 5 Sebring (5-5) at 4 Tampa Bay Tech (8-2)
As the countdown begins to the official announcement on Thursday, fans and teams alike are on the edge of their seats. Stay tuned for the latest updates and be ready to share this breaking news across your social networks!
