Drew McIntyre Expected to Stay with WWE Until WrestleMania 2028
A significant development has emerged regarding the future of Drew McIntyre, one of WWE’s most prominent stars. According to a report from Fightful Select, McIntyre is expected to remain under contract with WWE until at least WrestleMania 2028. This update follows the wrestler’s return to the promotion, where he has consistently been positioned as a main-event competitor since re-signing last year.
Recently, former WWE writer Vince Russo suggested that McIntyre consider a potential opportunity with Juggalo Championship Wrestling (JCW) when his current deal expires. While this option has been presented, it appears unlikely that McIntyre will be transitioning from WWE in the near future. The report indicates that the former World Champion had previously expressed interest in working with JCW during his early career but never had the chance to do so.
In a recent match on the November 1, 2023, edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event, McIntyre faced Cody Rhodes for the World title but ultimately came up short. This match was part of McIntyre’s ongoing pursuit of championship gold within WWE.
McIntyre’s Aspirations for WrestleMania in Scotland
In a conversation with SportBible, McIntyre shared his vision of hosting a future WrestleMania in his home country of Scotland. He recalled his aspirations dating back to 2019, when he expressed a desire to win the Royal Rumble, claim the championship, and celebrate with a parade across the UK as the first British champion.
“I’ve been wanting to do this [return home with the title] since 2019,” McIntyre stated. “I think I started talking about it going into the Royal Rumble in 2020 when I won. I want to win the title, get an open-top bus, and parade it around the UK.”
McIntyre elaborated on his plans, mentioning potential venues like Murrayfield Stadium, where he believes fans would travel not only from the UK but from around the globe. He expressed excitement about showcasing Scotland’s beautiful scenery and engaging with fans during media events, possibly at iconic locations such as Edinburgh Castle.
“I cannot wait to do media on top of Edinburgh Castle or something,” he added. “I’ll be there for WrestleMania, and it would be amazing to see the football games, a few Rangers games. We’ll finally be back on form after a disastrous start to the season.”
As McIntyre’s contract with WWE continues, his ambitions for both personal achievement and the promotion’s future make him a key figure to watch. His desire to host WrestleMania in Scotland reflects not only his deep connection to his roots but also his ongoing commitment to the sport and its global audience.
