Microsoft Resolves Longstanding Windows Shutdown Glitch NOW
UPDATE: Microsoft has just confirmed a fix for a long-standing shutdown issue affecting users of both Windows 10 and Windows 11. The glitch, which has plagued users after applying updates, is finally resolved in an optional update released approximately a week ago and will be included in a mandatory update on November 11, 2023.
The shutdown bug caused devices to reboot instead of shutting down after selecting the “Update and shutdown” option—an aggravation for desktop users and a dangerous headache for laptop users, who risk overheating if they unknowingly stow their devices after an update. This fix is particularly crucial for those who rely on their laptops for work or travel, ensuring their devices can properly power down without unexpected reboots.
According to the official changelog from Microsoft, the fix specifically targets Windows 11 versions 25H2 and 24H2. While dozens of other changes were introduced alongside the shutdown fix—including enhancements to the taskbar and an upgraded Start menu—Windows 10 users are still facing the shutdown issue, as the fix has not been applied to that operating system yet.
This announcement marks a significant moment for users who have dealt with the frustration of their devices failing to shut down properly. Michael, a technology journalist with over a decade of experience, notes that the persistent shutdown problem has been a source of annoyance for many.
As the update rolls out next week, users are encouraged to check for updates to ensure they receive this important fix. The rollout of this mandatory update could influence many to upgrade to Windows 11, as the issues with Windows 10 persist.
Stay tuned for more updates on this critical software development as Microsoft continues to address user concerns. Share this article to inform others about this essential update that could impact their daily computing experience!
