Wilding Brands, a beverage conglomerate based in Lafayette, has acquired Upslope Brewing Co., a well-known brewery from Boulder. This strategic move marks another significant addition to Wilding’s growing portfolio, which has seen multiple acquisitions since its establishment in 2022. The specific terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed.

As part of the agreement, Upslope’s production operations will be relocated to Wilding’s “Canworks” brewing facility in Denver. The CEO of Wilding Brands, Eric Foster, expressed enthusiasm for this acquisition, noting, “Since day one, our goal with Wilding has been to create an incredible family of Colorado craft beverage companies that retain their individuality and the quality beverages and experiences that made them who they are.” Foster emphasized that Upslope aligns perfectly with this vision.

Despite the acquisition, Upslope’s two taprooms in Boulder and its location in Silverthorne will remain operational. Wilding clarified that these venues are not included in the acquisition and will continue to be managed by the previous owner and operator.

Background on Wilding Brands

Wilding Brands was formed through a merger of several notable companies, including Stem Ciders, Denver Beer Co., and Funkwerks. The leadership team comprises experienced professionals from the Colorado craft beverage sector, including Foster, Brad Lincoln, and Charlie Berger, who began his career at Great Divide Brewing Co. before co-founding Denver Beer Co.

In 2023, Wilding Brands expanded its reach by acquiring Great Divide in April and Station 26 Brewing Co. in June. With the addition of Upslope, Wilding anticipates brewing a total of 80,000 barrels across its portfolio. This production volume positions the company as Colorado’s second-largest independent craft producer, following Odell Brewing Co., which produced over 98,000 barrels in 2024.

The acquisition of Upslope Brewing Co. not only enhances Wilding’s production capacity but also strengthens its presence in the competitive craft beverage market. With a commitment to maintaining the unique characteristics of its acquired brands, Wilding aims to foster a collaborative environment among its companies.

As the beverage industry continues to evolve, Wilding Brands stands poised to make a significant impact in the Colorado craft beer scene, driven by its strategic acquisitions and the expertise of its leadership team.
