Nuggets’ Christian Braun Suffers Ankle Injury, Out for 6 Weeks
The Denver Nuggets announced that forward Christian Braun will be sidelined for at least six weeks due to a left ankle sprain. The injury occurred during Wednesday night’s game against the LA Clippers when Braun landed awkwardly after being stepped on by Clippers guard James Harden. He will be re-evaluated in six weeks, as confirmed by the team on Friday.
Braun was injured in the first quarter but managed to return for the second quarter, albeit with a noticeable limp. Despite his efforts, he did not participate in the second half of the game. Following the match, the team conducted tests that confirmed the sprain, impacting his availability for the upcoming schedule.
The Nuggets have a demanding stretch ahead, with a total of 17 games scheduled between now and December 25, 2023. Braun has emerged as a significant player in the Nuggets’ rotation, often tasked with defending the opposing team’s best offensive player. In the initial 11 games of the season, he averaged 11.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3 assists, highlighting his vital role in the team’s success.
As the Nuggets continue their season, they will need to adjust their strategy in Braun’s absence. His contributions on both ends of the court will be missed, particularly in high-stakes matchups against formidable opponents. The team will be looking to other players to step up and fill the void left by Braun as they aim to maintain their competitive edge in the league.
