Leslie Bibb has secured her first major project following her appearance in HBO’s acclaimed series, The White Lotus. The actress will take on the leading role of Captain Diane Goodman in the six-part Cold War crime series, Top of the Rock. The announcement was confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.

Set against the backdrop of escalating Cold War tensions in 1983, Top of the Rock revolves around U.S. military police investigator Captain Goodman and her colleague, MP Sarah Ellis, stationed at a NATO base in Keflavik, Iceland. The plot thickens when an American soldier is discovered dead under suspicious circumstances near the base. This incident forces Goodman and Ellis to collaborate with the Icelandic police, leading them into a complex web of espionage, betrayal, and political deceit.

Production Details and Team

The series is produced by Truenorth, one of Iceland’s premier production companies, alongside Mystery Productions and Vertu. It was created by Davíð Óskar Ólafsson, known for his work on The Valhalla Murders, and Jón Atli Jónasson, who has credits including Arctic Circle and The Deep. The direction will be handled by Ólafsson, with Jónasson and Óttar M. Norðfjörð penning the script.

Producer Kristinn Thordarson expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Top of the Rock will redefine Icelandic noirs for audiences around the globe. It will reinvigorate their passion for complex and captivating storytelling in the most picturesque setting.”

The series is being developed and financed by Truenorth, Mystery Productions, and Vertu, with additional support from Enderby Entertainment, Baradal / Frédéric Pittoors, and Lumière. Notably, Emmy-winning casting director Alexa L. Fogel, recognized for her work on True Detective and Ozark, is also an executive producer on the series.

Future Implications for Icelandic Noir

With Top of the Rock, Truenorth continues to expand its portfolio, which recently included projects such as True Detective Season Four and The Northman. The series is expected to enhance the visibility of Icelandic storytelling on the international stage.

Leslie Bibb, who has also starred in Palm Royale and Juror #2, is represented by UTA, LBI Entertainment, and Narrative. As she takes on this challenging role, audiences can anticipate a gripping narrative that intertwines personal and political conflicts within a rich, atmospheric setting.
