Community Mourns Passing of Douglas Edward Greer at 38

Douglas Edward Greer, a resident of Elizabethton, tragically passed away on November 18, 2025, at the age of 38. His untimely death has left a significant impact on his family and the local community. Born on February 2, 1987, in Johnson City, Greer was known for his love of outdoor activities including fishing, swimming, and playing pool.

A graduate of Gateway Christian Home School, Greer was dedicated to his family and friends. He worked at Central Heat and Air and was an active member of Bramar Baptist Church. He is remembered for his warm spirit and deep connections with those around him.

Family and Friends Remember Greer’s Legacy

Greer is preceded in death by his sister, Martha Pauline Greer, who passed away on October 30, 2022, as well as his paternal grandparents, Dan and Martha Belle Greer, and maternal grandparents, Luther and Ellen Lowe. He is survived by his three children, Emma, Gracie, and Jackson Greer; his parents, Daryl and Lois Lowe Greer; and his sister, Anna Lunsford, along with her husband, T.J.. Additionally, he leaves behind a niece, McKinzie Lunsford, a nephew, Tyler Lunsford, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Two close friends, Ronnie Thornton and Zake Thornton, are also mourning his loss.

Funeral Arrangements and Community Support

Funeral services for Douglas Greer will take place at 2 p.m. on November 26, 2025, at Memorial Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Dean Presnell officiating. Following the ceremony, interment will occur at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Music during the service will be provided by Mike Presnell, and pallbearers will include T.J. Lunsford, Jearamy Ward, Jeff Lunsford, and Fred Julian.

The family invites friends to join them for a visitation from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on the day of the service. Condolences can be shared at their website, www.memorialfcelizabethton.com.
