Bad Bunny Shatters Records with Six Nominations for 2026 Grammys
Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny has made history with six nominations for the 2026 Grammy Awards, announced on November 7. He is now the first Latin artist to be nominated in three major categories in the same year: Album of the Year for *Debí Tirar Más Fotos*, and both Song of the Year and Record of the Year for his hit single “DTMF.” This marks the second time Bad Bunny has competed for the Album of the Year title, having previously been nominated in 2023 for *Un Verano Sin Ti*.
“DTMF” also holds a special distinction as only the second Spanish-language song to receive nominations for both Record of the Year and Song of the Year, following the success of “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee, featuring Justin Bieber. In addition to these accolades, Bad Bunny is nominated for Best Música Urbana Album, Best Global Music Performance for “EoO,” and as an art director for Best Album Cover for his LP artwork.
Other Latin Artists Shine in Grammy Nominations
In other significant nominations, Mexican artist Edgar Barrera received his third nomination for Songwriter of the Year, non-classical. His work includes notable collaborations with artists such as Karol G, Shakira, and Juanes. Notably, he remains the only nominee recognized for writing songs primarily in Spanish.
Additional Latin artists have made their mark across various categories. For the Best Global Music Performance, alongside Bad Bunny, Peruvian singer Ciro Hurtado is nominated for “Cantando en el Camino,” while Cuban artist Yeisy Rojas is recognized for “Inmigrante y Qué?” In the classical music categories, renowned conductor Gustavo Dudamel and composer Gabriela Ortiz are featured prominently.
The jazz and Latin jazz categories include celebrated Cuban musicians Paquito D’Rivera and Gonzalo Rubalcaba, as well as Arturo O’Farrill from Mexico and Puerto Rican Miguel Zenón. The nominations reflect a blend of established artists and newcomers, with first-time nominees such as Colombian singer Paola Jara and the Argentine duo of CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso.
Upcoming Awards and Recognition
Many of the nominated artists will first compete at the 2025 Latin Grammy Awards, scheduled for November 13 in Las Vegas. Bad Bunny leads with a striking total of 12 nominations at this event, followed closely by Barrera and CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, each with 10 nominations.
The winners of the 68th Annual Grammy Awards will be unveiled in Los Angeles on February 1, 2026, just days before the highly anticipated Super Bowl, where Bad Bunny is set to headline the halftime show. This year’s nominations not only highlight the achievements of Latin artists but also underscore the growing influence of Latin music on a global scale.
As the awards season approaches, the spotlight is firmly on the diverse range of talent that continues to shape the musical landscape, with Latin artists playing an increasingly pivotal role in the industry.
