Explore History: Upcoming Lectures and Tours in Charlottesville

The Albemarle Charlottesville Historical Society is hosting a lecture titled, “Monticello Inn & Cottage: From Sacred Space to Historic Inn,” on December 4, 2023. The event will take place at 6 p.m. in Lane Auditorium, located within the Albemarle County Office Building. Attendees can enjoy light refreshments following the lecture, which is free but requires reservations.

In addition to the lecture, the society is offering a series of walking tours every Saturday morning through November 29, 2023. Each tour will focus on a different aspect of Charlottesville’s rich history. The tour titled “Court Square: Where Charlottesville Began” starts at 10 a.m. at the Albemarle County Courthouse situated at 501 E. Jefferson St.. Another tour, “Historic Downtown Mall,” commences at 11 a.m. outside Ting Pavilion, while the “Black Barbers of Charlottesville” tour kicks off at noon at the historical society.

The weekly activities listing includes nonprofit and civic events, public meetings, and announcements relevant to residents in Charlottesville and surrounding areas, including Albemarle, Buckingham, Culpeper, Fluvanna, Greene, Madison, Nelson, and Orange counties.

It is important to note that political and religious events, along with those that aim to sell goods or promote businesses, are not eligible for inclusion.
