Jacob Elordi Discusses Freedom and Challenges in ‘Euphoria’ Season 3
Jacob Elordi, the star of HBO’s acclaimed series *Euphoria*, recently opened up about his experiences while filming the show’s third season. During an appearance on the *Entertainment Weekly* podcast, Elordi described the creative process as both liberating and challenging. With the upcoming season likely being the last, he shared insights into how it differs markedly from his previous projects.
Elordi explained that the lack of a full script provided a unique opportunity for spontaneity in his performance. He stated, “I had no choice,” referencing the informal creative discussions he had with the show’s creator, Sam Levinson. The actor noted that normally, he prefers to have a thorough understanding of his role, but the rapid pace of production forced him to adapt on the fly.
The time jump in season 3, which ages up the characters beyond high school, also contributed to this sense of freedom. Elordi recalled a hectic schedule, saying, “I was coming off of a plane somewhere, and later I had a small amount of time … to fit in a lot of work.” This whirlwind experience meant he approached each day without the luxury of extensive preparation.
“I could only go day by day,” he continued, emphasizing the necessity of responding to the moment and relying on his understanding of the character. “I got to be free in the acting process, ’cause it was kind of just throwing s— at the wall and seeing what would stick.” This approach allowed him to focus less on the realism of the performance and more on how it played within the frame.
Despite the liberating aspects of this creative freedom, Elordi admitted that it could also be “nerve-wracking.” The pressure to deliver without the usual preparation weighed on him at times.
As fans eagerly await the release of *Euphoria* Season 3, Elordi’s reflections highlight the complexities and emotional dynamics involved in creating a beloved series. The blend of freedom and pressure adds layers to the storytelling process, making the upcoming season a highly anticipated conclusion to the characters’ journeys.
In sharing these insights, Elordi not only sheds light on his personal growth as an actor but also invites audiences to consider the broader creative challenges faced by those in the entertainment industry.
