Jennifer Lawrence Discusses Challenges with Co-Star in Die My Love
In a recent episode of the Entertainment Weekly podcast, actress Jennifer Lawrence shared her experience filming the critically acclaimed movie Die My Love, directed by Lynne Ramsay. While the film has garnered positive reviews, Lawrence revealed that her co-star—a dog—was a source of significant irritation during production.
Filming Challenges with Four-Legged Co-Star
Lawrence, who stars alongside Robert Pattinson, expressed her frustration with the canine actor, stating, “That dog annoyed the s— out of me.” The dog’s persistent barking contributed to the tension on set, particularly as it played a crucial role in depicting her character’s deteriorating mental state.
Pattinson chimed in with a humorous theory, suggesting that the dog’s behavior stemmed from Lawrence’s perceived judgment. “I think one of the reasons the dog was barking so much is ’cause it was very upset by how much you were judging it,” he remarked, adding that the dog became increasingly nervous throughout the filming process.
In a light-hearted moment, Lawrence mentioned her preference for cats over dogs, saying, “I’m more of a cat person.” Nevertheless, Pattinson insisted that the dog was sweet, acknowledging the challenges of having it sit still during script rewrites required to accommodate its barking.
Adjusting to Life on Set with Infants
Alongside the canine complications, the production faced additional hurdles with the presence of newborn twins. Lawrence indicated that managing the infants added another layer of difficulty to filming. “Normally, you could just plop a baby in a car seat, and the twins were like, hell no, I hate that thing,” she explained, highlighting the need for significant adjustments during shooting.
Despite these challenges, Die My Love has achieved a 73% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics praising the performances of both Lawrence and Pattinson. Their dynamic on-screen presence, coupled with the film’s poignant narrative, has resonated with audiences, making it one of the standout films of the year.
The candid reflections from Lawrence and Pattinson provide a glimpse into the often unpredictable nature of filmmaking, illustrating that even in critically successful projects, challenges can arise from unexpected sources.
