Kansas City Chiefs Seek Momentum as Taylor Swift’s Attendance Dwindles
The Kansas City Chiefs find themselves in a precarious position, currently holding a record of 5-5 as they prepare to face the Indianapolis Colts (8-2) at Arrowhead Stadium on November 23, 2025. This season has been a rollercoaster ride, and the team’s playoff hopes are looking increasingly slim. Notably, their struggles have coincided with a decline in appearances by Taylor Swift, the fiancée of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who has only attended half of the team’s games this year.
Swift’s reduced presence at games raises questions about her influence on the team’s performance. When she has been in attendance, the Chiefs boast an impressive record of 4-1 at home games. In contrast, their performance without her support has faltered, resulting in a disappointing 1-4 record. This trend invites speculation: do the Kansas City Chiefs need Taylor Swift to regain their competitive edge?
Swift’s connection to the Chiefs has been marked by remarkable success. Since her relationship with Kelce became public, the team won the first four games she attended this season. Overall, the Chiefs are 10-3 in games where Swift has been present, including a memorable 25-22 overtime victory against the San Francisco 49ers during Super Bowl LVIII.
The beginning of the 2024 season saw a continuation of this winning streak, with Swift attending seven regular season games, all of which ended in victories. Her presence during the playoffs further solidified her status as a good luck charm for the team, culminating in wins against the Houston Texans and Buffalo Bills. The Chiefs’ winning streak finally came to an end with a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LX, but Swift’s in-person attendance record remains a striking 23 wins to 5 losses.
Despite her popularity, Swift’s attendance has sparked a mix of reactions among fans. Some have expressed frustration over the frequent camera shots of the pop star during games, feeling that it detracts from the football action. Swift addressed these concerns in a profile for Time magazine, acknowledging that she is “sensitive to the attention” but remains focused on supporting Kelce. “I’m just there to support Travis,” she stated, adding that she is unaware of any annoyance her presence may cause among certain fans.
As the Chiefs approach the final stretch of the 2025 season, with only seven games left, their path to the playoffs is becoming increasingly uncertain. According to ESPN’s projection model, they have a 44.6 percent chance of missing the playoffs—a stark contrast to their streak of consecutive playoff appearances since 2014, the year Kelce entered the league.
Chiefs fans are left hoping that Swift can make more appearances in the coming weeks, as her presence could be pivotal in turning the season around. With the stakes high, it seems that the Kansas City Chiefs may indeed need Taylor Swift to help restore their winning ways as they strive to secure a place in the postseason.
