Newport News Celebrates Holiday Spirit with Tree Lighting Ceremony
The City of Newport News is set to illuminate the holiday season with its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on December 9, 2023. The event will take place from 18:00 to 21:00 at the City Center at Oyster Point, located at 701 Town Center Drive, with the tree lighting occurring at 18:30. This family-friendly celebration is free to the public and promises a night filled with entertainment and festive activities.
Highlighting the evening is a performance by multi-platinum artist Mario, who will bring his musical talents to the stage, adding to the celebratory atmosphere. Attendees can also look forward to the return of Timber, the 50-foot talking tree, which has become a beloved feature of the event.
Families can engage in a variety of activities, including children’s crafts, carnival games, and browsing through holiday gift vendors. The event aims to create a joyous environment for all ages, encouraging community connection and celebration during the festive season.
For those planning to attend, additional information regarding parking, shuttle services, and the full schedule of events can be found on the Newport News Parks, Recreation & Tourism website at nnparksandrec.org/nlightn.
As Newport News embraces the holiday spirit, the Tree Lighting Ceremony stands as a highlight of the city’s seasonal festivities, inviting residents and visitors alike to be part of this cherished tradition.
