Remembering Wade Gluyas: A Life of Kindness and Generosity
Wade Alexander Gluyas, born on August 14, 1958, in Santa Ana, California, passed away on October 20, 2024, after a prolonged battle with kidney and liver failure. He was the only son of George and Bette Gluyas and is remembered for his kind spirit and unwavering generosity.
Wade graduated from Rancho Alamitos High School and later pursued further education at ITT Technical School, along with attending various community college classes. His thirst for knowledge remained a significant aspect of his character throughout his life.
Despite facing challenges such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), Wade maintained a gentle disposition. Colleagues and friends often described him as a “big teddy bear” with a warm smile and a hearty laugh. He was known for his selflessness, often willing to share what little he had, embodying a spirit of kindness that resonated deeply with those who knew him.
Wade’s generosity, while admirable, sometimes led to misunderstandings. He often found his caring nature misinterpreted, and his willingness to help others made him vulnerable to those who would take advantage of his kindness. Nevertheless, he remained dedicated to looking after “critters,” “old geezers,” and “the little tikes,” as he affectionately referred to them.
Family Connections and Personal Interests
Wade’s bonds with his family were profound. He lived with his mother, sister, and nephew, often taking on the role of caregiver. He looked after his parents until their deaths in 2005 and continued to support his family in various ways. After his parents passed, Wade moved to Visalia, California, to live with his sister Beth and her husband, Gary.
Wade found joy in simple pleasures. He shared a love for fishing with his father and sister, Leslie, and enjoyed practical jokes with his sister, Becky. His childhood friend, Chris, often reminisced about their plans to explore distant places like Alaska, although those adventures remained dreams. Wade’s imaginative nature extended to his conversations about scientific theories and inventions, many of which turned out to be surprisingly accurate.
As a self-proclaimed “foodie,” Wade created unique culinary concoctions, often featuring generous amounts of sour cream, hot sauce, and mayonnaise. Though not always well-received by others, his creativity in the kitchen was a testament to his personality.
Legacy and Farewell
Wade’s health deteriorated over the years, yet he faced his illnesses with calmness and bravery. Even in his final days, he expressed concern for his family’s well-being, demonstrating his enduring spirit of generosity. He chose to donate his organs to the Donor Network, encouraging others to consider the impact of organ donation for the sake of those in need.
Wade Gluyas will be laid to rest alongside his parents and sister, Becky, in the Murrieta Valley Cemetery, located in Murrieta, California. A graveside service is scheduled for November 3, 2024, at 13:00.
As family and friends prepare to bid farewell to Wade, many reflect on the positive impact he had on their lives. His absence leaves a void, but those who knew him believe that his kindness and generosity will continue to shine brightly in the memories they hold.
