A couple in the United States recently uncovered hidden rooms in their Victorian-style house, which dates back 130 years, after receiving a mysterious letter from the last surviving member of the previous family that owned the property. The letter, which arrived from Canada, was addressed only to “purchaser” and introduced the author as a member of the Madison family. The message began with, “Let me introduce myself. I am the last surviving member of the Madison family who once owned the house, and I grew up in it.” It went on to invite the couple to explore secret rooms and features that they might not have been told about when they purchased the house.

Courtney expressed her astonishment in an email to the Daily Dot, stating, “When we purchased this home, we had no idea there was a compartment hidden inside one of the fireplaces. It wasn’t until we got a mysterious letter from a former occupant that we discovered it.” She added, “I’m certain we’d have lived here for years, never finding it had it not been for our secret letter writer.”

Behind a mirrored panel, they discovered a collection of vintage bottles, including a French Rosé from 1970 and a Cabernet Sauvignon from 1989. The couple noted that the liquor stash appeared to be untouched, further adding to the home’s mysterious charm.

The couple then investigated another clue mentioned in the letter, which referred to a secret spot in the bathroom. Expecting a full room, they instead found a cramped crawl space. Courtney described the area as “by far the scariest room” due to its neglected condition, suggesting it had once been part of a larger structure.
