Lacey Chabert is embracing the holiday spirit early this year, having already decorated her home for Christmas well before the end of October. The star of Hallmark’s latest festive film, She’s Making a List, is known for her dedication to the season, which is reflected in her extensive filmography. This marks her 16th Christmas movie and 43rd film overall with Hallmark, a network where she has become a beloved figure.

During a recent interview with DECIDER, Chabert expressed her enthusiasm for the holidays, confirming that she had begun her decorations a few weeks prior to Halloween. “I feel like maybe I shouldn’t be so forthcoming with this stuff,” she said playfully. “I mean, what is it, November 3rd? So I started a couple weeks ago. Is that the end of the world?”

Chabert plays Isabel, an inspector for Santa’s Naughty or Nice Group, in She’s Making a List. The film features a reunion with fellow Hallmark star Andrew Walker, with whom she previously worked in My Secret Valentine. She described the collaborative environment at Hallmark, stating, “Everyone that works with Hallmark, we really are a little bit of a family. We root for each other; we’re friends in real life, most of us.”

Magic of Christmas Movies

The actress shared what drew her to this particular project, noting its whimsical and magical feel. “When I read the script, I loved the world that they create in this story,” she explained. Chabert noted the film’s emphasis on heartfelt moments and humor, along with a focus on parenting, which resonates deeply with her as a mother.

The narrative centers not only on the romantic relationship between Isabel and Jason, played by Walker, but also on the father-daughter bond between Jason and his daughter, Charlie. Chabert remarked on the film’s beautiful message about parenting and empathy. “She learns to look at [Charlie] from a place of empathy and from her heart,” Chabert said, emphasizing the importance of understanding children’s experiences.

Chabert also addressed themes relevant to modern society, particularly the use of algorithms in judging behavior, a concept mirrored in the film’s portrayal of the Naughty or Nice List. “As wonderful as technology can be, it’s not human,” she stated. “There are some things that take discernment from the human heart.”

Christmas Traditions and Future Projects

As she prepares for the holiday season, Chabert revealed her personal traditions, which include decorating her home and enjoying classic holiday films. “I would start listening to Christmas music as soon as the leaves change,” she confessed. Her decorations often remain up well into February, sometimes transforming into Valentine’s Day décor.

Chabert’s long-standing relationship with Hallmark has allowed her to take on more creative roles, including producing. “I value the way they allow me as an actress to be involved,” she noted. Recently, she launched the Lacey Chabert Collection, a line inspired by vintage Hallmark designs, which aims to bring joy to people’s celebrations.

Looking ahead, she teased an upcoming rom-com set in Fiji, scheduled to air in January. The experience of filming in a new location added to her excitement. “It’s just so many special memories encapsulated in those three weeks,” she recalled.

Fans can catch She’s Making a List premiering on December 6, 2023, at 20:00 ET/PT on the Hallmark Channel, with next-day streaming available on Hallmark+. Chabert hopes viewers find joy and laughter in the film, continuing her tradition of bringing holiday cheer to families worldwide.
